The Productivity Manifesto

What if you could sit down at your computer and write 1,000 words? What if you could focus without impulsively opening Twitter and Facebook? What if you could write three books in a single year?

How would those abilities change your life and work?

Over the years I’ve learned a few tips and tricks to help form the habits necessary to focus and create on another level. I’m not perfect, and neither are my methods, but they sure have helped me. They’ll help you as well if you take the time to implement them.

The Productivity Manifesto is the ideas that worked for me, combined into a single, short ebook.

Nathan, this is a really great read, and I thank you for publishing it. I particularly liked chapter #1 (Focus on the right things) and #2 (Do something every day); I suspect if people just focused on those two elements, they’d be a mile ahead of where they currently are… and it wouldn’t be that difficult.

I have a little different take on chapter #8 (Stop waiting for the perfect tool). As you say, the examples you list are all excuses to procrastinate. But if I ever find myself saying “I’ll wait for X before I do Y.”, I find it very helpful to stop and ask, “What am I doing to get X? When will X be done?” I think it’s OK to have dependencies, as long as you have a plan for accomplishing them.

    Again, great book, and thanks.

Some good tips in there. Especially about using mobile devices for leisurely activities such as twitter.
